General chemistry leans on a handful of quantitative relationships that connect the physical behavior of matter โ pressure, volume, temperature, concentration โ to numbers you can actually calculate. This section covers the gas laws (Boyle's Law, Charles's Law, and the combined Ideal Gas Law), solution chemistry (molarity and percent composition), thermochemistry (heat and specific heat capacity), and acid-base chemistry (the pH formula).
A lot of chemistry-formula mistakes come from unit inconsistency โ mixing Celsius and Kelvin in a gas-law problem, or forgetting that molarity is moles of solute per liter of solution, not per liter of solvent โ more than from the algebra being hard. Every formula page here includes a units table where relevant, spells out exactly what each variable measures and in what unit, and walks through at least one worked problem end to end so you can see where unit conversions actually happen, not just where the final formula gets applied.
